LXBN TV: Steve Augustino on the FCC’s Open Internet (“Network Neutrality”) Regulations

Posted on October 21, 2011 by Colin O'Keefe

In our fourth installment of LXBN TV, we bring on Steve Augustino, a partner at Kelley Drye and author on the firm’s Telecom Law Monitor. The topic of conversation today, as you can likely see in the title, is the FCC’s impending Open Internet/Network Neutrality Regulations. The regulations, which were adopted by the Federal Communications Commission on December 23, 2010, go into effect on November 20th of this year. These regulations place a variety of obligations on certain providers of broadband Internet access, and some obligations that these companies aren’t too excited about implementing.

In our interview we discuss:

  • The most impactful parts of these new net neutrality regulations.
  • The complaints surrounding the disclosure requirements, whether or not those are justified and how they will be addressed in the future.
  • Whether or not these regulations address many consumers about net neutrality.
