LXBN TV: Daniel Schwartz Explains Best Practices for Employee Social Media Policies

Posted on December 16, 2011 by Colin O'Keefe

I would like to think that, given the opportunity, I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to intelligence. It isn’t fair to always assume the worst with people, especially when you wouldn’t want others doing the same to you. That said, I’ve always been of the belief that “just don’t be an idiot” should be enough of a social media policy for most individuals—but having read story after story of employees getting in trouble for inappropriate tweets and irresponsible Facebook status updates, it’s easy to see that simply doesn’t suffice.

Since I started doing these LXBN TV interviews, I looked forward to the opportunity of bringing on today’s guest. To discuss best practices for these now-essential social media policies, we bring in Pullman & Comley attorney Daniel Schwartz, author of the excellent Connecticut Employment Law Blog
