LXBN TV: Does Google’s New Privacy Policy Violate a Previous FTC Settlement? InfoLawGroup’s Boris Segalis Offers Analysis

Posted on February 16, 2012 by Colin O'Keefe

It seems today that the most valuable and sought-after commodity in the world is individuals’ personal information and preferences. Well, based on the uproar, that’s what I’ve been led to believe. Google’s new privacy policy—on in which they consolidate users’ data and employ it in various ways it across their various properties and products—has received a great deal of criticism but none of it is stronger than that coming from the Electronic Privacy Information Center. EPIC, as its otherwise known, claims this new privacy policy violates a previous settlement with the FTC, which came about after Google Buzz, Google’s other flop of a social Network.

To discuss the story, EPIC,  this previous settlement with the FTC and how Google fits into the EU Safe Harbor Framework, we bring in Boris Segalis, Partner at InfoLawGroup.
